Chestnut class is a Year 6 class. Our pupils will be preparing for their move to secondary school. Pupils are encouraged to develop a confident approach to learning, a greater level of independence and the skills to manage and take responsibility for their own thoughts, feelings and actions. Chestnut class is currently staffed by Mr Eldin and Miss Bray.

Term 4 was a fantastic term with the children demonstrating excellent behaviour throughout the school and a great attitude towards their learning. Miss Bray and Mr Eldin have been extremely proud of their efforts.

We are going to begin term 5 in the same way we ended term 4 – on a high! In literacy we are going to focus on diary entries with a focus on WW2, looking at an extract from ‘Goodnight Mr. Tom’. This will link in well with this term’s topic: ‘The Battle of Britain’. We hope to plan some class trips around this topic.

It was a particularly impressive term 4 for the children in maths where they looked at fractions. This term they are going to move on to shape and measurement. After an extensive overhaul of our classroom displays, Chestnut class is now a fully interactive space for the children with informative and differentiated question and work throughout.

As well as this we will continue preparing the children for their SATs and their exciting transition to Key Stage 3.
